About the house
How the house came to be.
Tiggi's iing started as a family house — three generations of Tigranias and a steady stream of cousins, neighbours, and the occasional musician on tour. In 2019, after a long conversation on the verandah, we decided to open it up properly.
The bones of the old house stayed: the pine floors, the wraparound verandah, the cherry tree my grandmother planted in 1978. We added six rooms for short stays, and two studios for the friends-of-friends who kept asking about staying for a month.
We're a small team — Tiggi looks after the rooms, her mum runs the kitchen, and a rotating cast of cousins helps with everything else. We hope you'll feel that.
The name
Tiggi · Short for Tigrania — the family name of the house.
iing · Khasi for 'house'. A house in the local way: shoes off, kettle on.

Shillong sits about 1,500 metres above sea level. The drive in is part of the trip.

About 3 hours from Guwahati, 3.5 hours from Kaziranga. The road climbs steadily, the views earn the drive.
