Nongrim Hills · Shillong · Meghalaya
Six rooms and two studios above a pine-lined lane in Nongrim Hills. Walks to Ward's Lake. Day trips to Cherrapunji. Long breakfasts on the verandah, even in the rain.
iing
Khasi for 'house' — the kind with shoes off and a kettle on.
About the house
Tiggi is short for Tigrania, our family name. Iing means 'house' in Khasi. We've kept things small on purpose: six rooms for short stays, two studios for friends who want to settle in for a few weeks, and one long breakfast table that everyone shares.
Shillong has a way of slowing you down — the fog, the pines, the music drifting from a neighbour's verandah. The house tries to do the same.
Six rooms, two studios
How the days go
Long breakfasts on the verandah. A walk to Ward's Lake before lunch. Tea on the steps as the fog rolls in over the pines.
Where you'll be
A leafy lane on the upper side of Shillong, a fifteen-minute walk from Police Bazaar and a ten-minute walk from Ward's Lake.
“We came for two nights and stayed five. The verandah at 6am with a cup of red tea is the closest I've come to bottling Shillong.”
